For those bored of flat phones and looking for something more exciting, Samsung’s hi-tech flip phone, the Galaxy Z Flip4 comes with better cameras, a faster chip, longer battery life and more customisation options.

On battery lifespan, it is expected the Galaxy Z Flip4 will can last in excess of 500 full charge cycles with at least 80% of its original capacity.

The phone is generally repairable, and the battery is replaceable by authorised service centres.

Samsung offers trade-in and recycling schemes for old devices with several internal components made from 20% recycled nylon or plastic.

The Pros of the Galaxy Z Flip4 include great large screen that folds in half, good cover screen, IPX8 water resistant, good camera, OneUI 4.1 with five years of updates, nano sim and esim.

The Z Flip4 is also powered by the relatively new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. However, 8GB RAM continues to remain the only memory configuration for the new foldable.

Samsung also continues to utilise the durable Armor Aluminium material for the phone’s chassis while the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ from the Galaxy S22 Series has also been implemented on its Cover Screen and rear body area to ensure the durability of the IPX8-rated foldable.

The software side is covered by OneUI 4.1 on top of Android 12 as Samsung brings new FlexMode options with optimized UX for video calling apps like Google Meet, Zoom and Facebook Messenger.

Z Flip4 gets a 3,700 mAh battery, up from the 3,300 mAh cell on the Flip3. You can also charge at up to 25W speeds, which is a welcome improvement over the 15W speeds of last year’s Flip.

Samsung has also revised its hinge mechanism for the Galaxy Z Flip4. Specifically, the metal elements connecting the two halves of the device to the hinge appear thinner.

The Galaxy Z Flip4 has a much thinner hinge casing, a smaller form factor and an overall lighter footprint.

At the August 10 Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Watch5 series and the Galaxy Buds2 Pro.
