District Chief Executive for Gomoa East Assembly, Margaret Naana Ackom has interacted with chiefs, assembly officials as well as party faithfuls on assumption of duty on Tuesday, April 22.
She expressed the desire to accelerate employment opportunities so the teeming youth in her district can be gainfully employed.
On single mothers toiling to fend for themselves and their wards, Madam Ackom indicated her resolve to intervene by bringing agencies of state to their notice so they can access work opportunities geared towards the vulnerable.
The mayor further made it known there are plans for making the roads in the district motorable while making the enrollment of students to educational institutions a priority.
A grassroots person, Hon. Margaret Ackom submitted those operating businesses with known track record can access her office for talks on how assistance can be provided to expand operations “now and not in an election year.”
When the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wing in Buduburam organised a clean-up exercise as part of the Easter festivities, the mayor seized the opportunity to lend her support urging community members to keep their environs clean and maintain sanitation standards.
She used the opportunity to confer with the Buduburam ‘Odikro’ or town head assuring folks that she will embark on a ‘Thank You Tour’ to properly interact with segments of the district, hear their concerns and have them addressed.
Hon. Margaret Ackom was accompanied by Special Aid Raymond Otabil and Policy and Research Analyst Isaac Obed Saah.
Margaret’s rise to prominence is the more impressive given she was confirmed as the first female District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa East, receiving unanimous approval with 18 ‘Yes’ votes in a confirmation election held at the Assembly Hall in Potsin on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
She was part of President John Dramani Mahama’s nominated set of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) under Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution.
Madam Ackom was the Deputy Director of Welfare for the Central Region for the NDC.
