With Nima serving as home to Ghana’s diverse ethnic groups, even West African ones, it’s little wonder there’s presence of the Bambara, Mossi, GaoGao or the Songhai, Wangara or the Bambara, Bisa or the Busanga, Chokosi, Malenke and the Wala. Curiously however there are the ‘Been To’, Sojouners or Borgas; folks who travelled to foreign lands to eke a living and eventually settled back in Nima.

There’s the popular ones like Los in reference to Los Angeles of the US and Great Hollandians inspired by a returnee from Holland. Then there’s Berlin Bridge also which was a foot bridge turn a motorable one.

It’s a prideful moment for residents to associate with these two sections. Hopefully, we get to see the transformation of these sections many dream of on the back of massive investment in living accommodation, technologically brilliant use of engineering to curb floods, automate bridges, desilt open drains as well as crucially boost the earning power of man, woman and youth to feed well, attain requisite education in grammar as well as technical or vocational fields. Were these to take shape, the tourist potential of general Nima and these sections with foreign background would swell impressively.

Ethnic groups credit falls in the lap of Abdul Rashid Zakari from his epistles on the North.
