Our 2-day journey to the Volta Region was a thrilling and unforgettable adventure, filled with breathtaking landscapes, cultural experiences, and delicious local cuisine.
We took off from Accra on Feb.10, traversing the Tema Motorway passing significant landmarks such as Michelle Camp, the Youth Leader Training Institute built by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and the military training school near Shai Hills. As we continued the journey, we spotted the Kpong Water Treatment Plant before reaching Atimpoku, home to the iconic Adomi Bridge.

A brief stop at Agbenoxevi Restaurant allowed us Tour Guides from the Hotel Catering and Tourism Training Institute (HOTCATT) to enjoy some good food before continuing our journey.
Our first major stop was Amedzofe, where we explored Mountain Gemi and had an exciting time on the Amedzofe Canopy Walk. After taking in the breathtaking views, we headed to Wli Waterfalls just before sunset. At the entrance, we treated ourselves to fresh palm wine, which was both refreshing and delightful.

Dinner that evening was a feast of Ghanaian delicacies, including akple with green green, banku with okra soup and goat meat, fried rice and chicken, waakye, and fufu with light soup. Satisfied and exhausted from the day’s adventures, we retired to our guest rooms for a well-deserved rest.
Day Two: Hiking and Wildlife Encounters
The next morning, we had an early breakfast before setting out to conquer Mount Afadja (Afadzato), Ghana’s highest peak. We started before sunrise to avoid the heat, and though the climb was challenging, reaching the top was a rewarding and exhilarating experience.

Our final stop was the Tafi Monkey Sanctuary, where we interacted with playful Mona monkeys in their natural habitat. It was an exciting and memorable way to conclude our trip.
The Volta Region offered us an incredible blend of adventure, culture, and relaxation. From mountain hikes to waterfalls and delicious food, every moment was an experience to cherish.

Visit Ghana, Visit Volta, and enjoy the region’s rich culture!
