Rev Anthony Kwadwo Boakye of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church is reported dead. His death happened on Tuesday night at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. This follows his stroke attack that kept him away from the church for some time.

Boakye earned praise for facilitating the movement of his church members by providing buses to the church premises located at Ngleshie Amanfro near the Kasoa toll booth.

He nonetheless also got lambasted when he claimed that he died and resurrected after five days.

When news of his passing broke on Wednesday, many members of the church trooped to the premises to ascertain the news for themselves.

There was a tussle over church finances when the founder took ill in Oct. 2021, as the wife reportedly made a move to be in charge while loyalists of Rev Anthony Kwadwo Boakye resisted the move on his purported instructions.

This according to some sources led the Mrs to break away from the Resurrection Power New Generation Church and found her own.

Rev. Boakye physically appeared in church on New Year’s Eve to lead in two years marking the last time he led the congregation.

Plans were afoot to have him receive medical attention outside Ghana when he succumbed to death.

Reverend Anthony Kwadwo Boakye was also known for his philanthropic gestures providing succour to bedridden patients, flood victims and impoverished.

Funeral arrangements will follow.
