Spiritual leaders tend to get away with many things including abusing children. And now there’s been outrage following the Dalai Lama ’s kissing of a boy and asking him to suck his tongue.
Catholic Priests Sex Abuses
Catholic priests have wreaked havoc on many male souls when they abused their relationship as priest and had sex with young boys who were often mass servers. And as a BBC report noted even former popes including Pope John Paul II (Karol Józef Wojtyła) as archbishop of Krakow, Pope Benedict XVI (Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger) as archbishop of Munich and Freising as well as Pope Francis (Jorge Mario Bergoglio) as archbishop of Buenos Aires are all fingered as covering up for criminal priests known to be paedophiles. The instances of traditional priests also demanding young girls or virgins as atonements to avert communal catastrophe are also well documented.
The Dalai Lama, real name Tenzin Gyatso had met about 100 young students who had just graduated from a skills training programme organised by the Indian M3M Foundation at his temple in Dharamshala, India.
The late February event which the students would have attended for blessing and counsel would attract critical attention when the supposed holiest figure in Tibetan Buddhism told the boy to come up to the platform where he was seated.
Motioning to his cheek, he is heard saying “first here”, after which the child kissed him and gave him a hug.
Having lived in exile in India since 1959 fearing persecution since Tibet got annexed by China has done nothing to make the 87-year-old alive to the demands of the times and keep his hands and now tongue to himself.
Dalai Lama Controversial Kiss Video
So as the video from the foundation would show, the Dalai Lama kept hold of the boy, saying “I think here also” and then planted a kiss on his lips. “And suck my tongue,” he then said, sticking out his tongue, forehead to forehead with the student. The boy quickly stuck out his own tongue and went to move away while the Dalai Lama laughed and pulled the boy in for another hug, as the audience laughed.
The video since coming out has seen rightful indignation from parents and other parties, forcing an apology from the office of the Dalai Lama, who managed to find a reason for the troublesome act saying his behaviour had been “innocent and playful.”
The Gelug or “Yellow Hat” school of Tibetan Buddhism, the newest and most popular of the four main schools, is led by its foremost spiritual figure, known to the Tibetan people as the Dalai Lama.
The 14th and current Dalai Lama has caused previous controversies. In 2019, he suggested that if the Dalai Lama returned as a woman “she should be more attractive,” pointing to an innate concern with sex regardless of the gender involved.
Of course, he was then also forced to issue an apology following an outcry. Makes you wonder who next the refugee will be on the prowl for next!
